How The CSA Works
We anticipate harvesting for the Spring 2011 season to begin in early April and to extend into early June time frame. The first part of our ten week season may include broccoli, cauliflower, beets, carrots, onions, leeks, cabbage, mustard greens; and other cool weather crops and then evolve into early summer varieties such as tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, red potatoes, and culinary herbs like basil and dill. Salad greens/baby arugula are likely to be provided throughout the ten-week program. Please take a look at the Harvest Calendar to have a better idea of what is seasonally available.
Once the harvest begins, members will be allowed to pick up their produce at various pick-up sites located in Houston. Different from last spring, we now have different delivery days for different pick up locations. Please view the Pick Up Locations page for delivery times and days near you. Incidentally we are look to add to our pick up locations. The amount and selection of produce in each share is entirely dependent on what our soil yields. Your diet will reflect the season and the land. Shares not picked up on the day of selected will be donated to a worthy cause.
WHAT WILL MEMBERS RECEIVE?
Members will receive at least 5 to 8 different types of vegetables and herbs each week during the growing seasons. Our farm grows several varieties of vegetables and will strive to give members the best quality produce possible.
WHAT IS THE COST?
This Spring 2011 CSA program exists for 10 weeks with early March being the targeted start date. Share sizes are $330 for a Full Share ($33/wk) and a Partial Share is $240 ($24/wk) for a ten-week program. New this year we are going to provide an alternate week program for Full Shares. Basically this will allow customers to skip every other week, so the program will be for five alternating weeks. The alternating week program will cost $180. Concerned about forgetting? Not to worry as we'll remind you via email.
